Violet was born in Stutton and has lived here for most of her life.

She was housekeeper at Crowe Hall for over 20 years working for the Reade family, whose memorials are in the Church. Until recently, lived in the Coach House at Crowe Hall but in 2001, she moved to the new gatehouse with its fascinating octagonal turret. |

She has been a member of the Women's Institute for many years.
She has been Verger at St Peter's Church for the past 21 years and sings in the church choir.
