The Willis Family was born in Stutton. Our the first real home was the Ancient House in Lower Street. Here we grew up. Later we moved to another house further down towards the church. This has now gone. |

We all were known to each other. Mum and Dad went up to the Chapel and we attended the Sunday School. Eventually we were old enough to go to work, and by this time, the family had moved to the other part of the village, Manor Lane. We really missed the people, that we used to meet along the way up to Chapel. Our way of life was now revolved around the Crepping Hall area and Upper Street. |

The war came and we were not so closely knit. Philip was in service at Ipswich until being called up into the Army. Sister, Florrie was in Domestic Service. Other members of the Family were in other situations. We continued to have links with the Chapel. Later Florrie went to work at the Hospital. So much can be told one would need to write a book. Stutton has remained the central theme, love of our lives, our base wherever we were. Even when I travelled the world, thoughts would wander back to home, to return from time to time. The family was held together by the links of early years, a good father and mother, good neighbours wherever we were and as we continue to grow, happy memories sustain us along the way. |
