Dorothy Simpson, nee Kemp, was born in 1943 in Lewis Lane. She went to Junior School in Stutton and on to Holbrook High School aged 11. She learned to play the piano under her teacher Mrs Capps.
On leaving school she worked at Crowe Hall for a short time for Miss Peggy Reade. From there, she went to work at BX Plastics at Brantham where she stayed for 41 years.
In 1984 she married William Simpson and they live in the house where she was born.
For many years, she has played the organ at Stutton Methodist Chapel and, in January 1997, joined Stutton Ringers to ring the bells at St Peter's Church.
