The old window was glazed with plain glass.  It was old but not in good condition.  It needed to be reglazed and re-leaded.

Instead of doing this work, the PCC decided it would be preferable to start again - an opportunity to celebrate the new millennium with an addition to the Church which we could all be proud of.
