We do enjoy (m)eating newcomers to our churches. The trouble is that we can't know everyone, and sometimes it seems difficult to get to know anyone well. A quick chat over a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning is hardly the basis for deep Christian fellowship.

 

One way in which we try to overcome this problem is the homegroup system. By belonging to a small group, and meeting with them regularly, we can begin to feel that sense of belonging which is such an important part of the Christian life.  There are homegroups in all three churches.

 

Homegroups are not just bible study groups or prayer groups, although both these things are down regularly, together with social activities. It really does not matter if you do not know where to find the book of Habbakuk, or form a beautifully worded prayer.

 

Homegroups are not about giving the right answer, or about a group leader telling the other members what to believe, but about growing together, learning to feel safe enough to express our doubts and fears, as well as share our joys. As we get to know each other better, we can support each other in so many more ways, enabling each member of the group to grow in their Christian life.

 

Homegroups usually meet once a fortnight, generally on a Wednesday or Thursday evening, although there are other times,  including a daytime group with a creche. There are also an increasing number of groups which meet every week.  If you would like to consider joining a group, speak to one of the Homegroup co-ordinators, the church administrator or a member of the Welcome team.
