Introduction
Welcome to the Sole Bay Team Ministry. We are a Team of eight parishes in East Suffolk serving Blythburgh, Reydon, Sotherton, South Cove, Southwold, Uggeshall, Walberswick and Wangford. We are in the Halesworth Deanery and the Archdeaconry of Suffolk.
Our parishes are situated on the eastern edge of the county in an area of fields, woods, marshes, reed beds and ancient heaths, with a rich diversity of wildlife. The communities we serve range from the small coastal town of Southwold and the adjacent growing village of Reydon to individual clusters of houses in the depths of the countryside. Walberswick is well known for its famous faces in the summer as well as the international crabbing competition in August! Many of our residents have retired here from other parts of the country, others have lived here all their lives. Tourism, fishing and farming are important sources of income and one of our major employers is Adnams Brewery in Southwold with their associated hotels and pubs.
Our church communities reflect a good cross-section of the rich diversity of traditions found in the Church of England. Styles of worship vary from traditional Book of Common Prayer services to informal family praise worship. This diversity helped us to formulate our Mission Statement "Rejoicing in diversity, we seek to grow in faith and to help others to grow into faith, by worshipping God and by serving Him in our neighbours". Our young people’s work is especially important to us and you will see more of this elsewhere on the site. Although we are on the edge of Suffolk we feel ourselves very much to be part of the life of our Diocese and the Church of England.
The Team hope you will enjoy looking at this site and if you come to visit us on holiday, do come to one of our services and tell us where you are from, or join us for one of our fetes, flower festivals or country teas – details of which are on the events page.. Many folk come back time and time again to these parishes to find refreshment and renewal for their Christian pilgrimage. May God bless you and, if you are able, pray for the ministry of our parishes here in Sole Bay, as together we journey on as disciples of the risen Lord.
