SOLE BAY TEAM MINISTRY rejoicing in diversity...serving Christ
|
|
Introduction The Sole Bay Team Ministry was formed in May 1999 and serves the twelve parishes, and associated communities, of Blythburgh, Covehithe with Benacre, Frostenden, Henstead with Hulver, Reydon, South Cove, Southwold, Sotherton, Uggeshall, Wangford, Walberswick and Wrentham. We are in the Halesworth Deanery and the Archdeaconry of Suffolk. Our parishes are situated on the extreme eastern edge of the country in an area of fields, woods, marshes, reed beds and ancient heaths., with a rich diversity of wildlife. The communities we serve range from the small coastal town of Southwold to individual clusters of houses in the depths of the countryside. Many of our residents have retired here from other parts of the country, others have lived here all their lives. Tourism, fishing and farming are important sources of income and one of our major employers is Adnams Brewery in Southwold with their associated hotels and pubs. Our church communities reflect a good cross-section of the rich diversity of traditions found in the Church of England. Styles of worship vary from traditional Book of Common Prayer Services to informal Family Praise. This diversity helped us to formulate our Mission Statement: "Rejoicing in diversity, we seek to grow in faith and to help others to grow into faith, by worshipping God and by serving Him in our neighbours". |
