Through
its Vocations Advisers, the Diocese is developing its care of those
who express a sense of vocation. Someone may feel God is calling
them, perhaps in an unspecified way, or perhaps to a particular
ministry, within or outside the church, in this country or abroad.
A Vocations Adviser is happy to hear that person's story and work
with them to discover what it might point towards. This is, of course,
in addition to any exploration and discussion that the individual
may wish to do with his or her Incumbent. Where someone expresses
a sense of being called to ordained ministry, stipendiary or non-stipendiary,
a conversation with one of the Vocations Advisers is a normal part
of the Diocesan process.
Contact with a Vocations
Adviser will usually come after discussion with the local Incumbent,
or at least with the Incumbent's knowledge. This route is essential
for those exploring a call to local ministry. For others, there
may be circumstances in which prior conversation with the Incumbent
is inappropriate, or impossible, eg in an interregnum.

the Advisers. It is probably convenient for people to meet with
the Adviser in their own Archdeaconry, but they may choose whichever
Adviser they wish.
