Suffolk Postcards

The Christian Gospel is earthed. Jesus shared the Good News with people in his own place and time, over an area about the same size as our Diocese. If that is what the Gospel looked like there and then, what does it mean for us here and now?

Overview
Suffolk Postcards is a Diocesan resource for Lent 2009, written by lay and ordained people from the Diocese. It’s about having a conversation between the Gospel and Suffolk today. Six Postcards, one for each week in Lent, bring together the set Sunday Gospel readings with colourful images of life in Suffolk. Resources are provided for discussion, reflection and prayer. They are available on paper or electronically.

Ways to use Postcards
Churches often have their own activities in Lent, so Postcards is designed to fit alongside them. You can access the material and use it in a variety of ways.

Display a series of A3 posters on the church notice-board in Lent
Use the prayers for intercessions on Sundays
Run a 6 session study group, or away-day
Show the pictures and text on a big screen and preach about them
Give congregation members a postcard each week to ponder at home

Leader’s Notes and suggestions for using Postcards as a congregation or group, or individually, are provided.
