What
does the Mothers’ Union do?
Internationally we have UN consultative status, are involved in
literacy and development programmes and a range of diverse programmes
in many countries around the world. In the UK we have a national
parenting programme and almost certainly, MU members will be involved
with families in your local area.
Who can join the Mothers’ Union?
Simply, if you are a Christian who believes in the importance of
family life you should join the MU. Men and women, parent or not
- all can and do join the MU. You do not need to live close to a
branch, have a MU branch in your church or even live near any other
MU members, because we offer Branch and Diocesan membership, but
you must share our values. To join you must have been baptised and
agree with our Aims and Objectives. Click here

of the Mothers' Union.
If I join the MU what will I have to do?
Joining the MU offers all kinds of opportunities for getting involved.
But membership asks nothing more from you than your support for
our beliefs and an annual subscription. We will keep you informed
of our work and achievements and ask for your prayers.
Branch Membership
Many members join a MU branch, usually attached to their own or
a local parish church. They get together at regular meetings for
prayer and fellowship and to support their parish. Others choose
to get involved as volunteers in our projects or give their time
to help with MU events and activities.
Diocesan Membership
If you join as a diocesan member, you will be kept up to date with
MU news and your local diocesan events and projects. You can choose
to volunteer with project work, get involved with events and attend
retreats and festivals. You may like to organise something of you
own. A need in your community may prompt you to start a project,
run a parenting course, set up a prayer group or organise a fundraising
event. Whether
you join as a branch member or a diocesan member you will be part
of our worldwide fellowship.
The subscription for 2007 is £13.20 and you may also subscribe
to the quarterly magazine “Home & Family” for
£6.
