WORLDWIDE
PROJECTS
Literacy and Development Programmes in
Burundi, Malawi and the Sudan. The knowledge equips learners
to make more informed decisions in their lives.
The
Family Life Programme is currently piloting in
31 Diocese in Uganda. It's aim is to improve the quality
of life for the most needy. It encourages all sectors of
the community, young and old, those with faith and those
without to participate. Finding resources to buy food is
a daily challenge. Model homes are set up and groups are
encouraged to grow crops for consumption and to raise seed
for re-growing. They are also taught how to care for livestock.
Goats provide offspring and milk. Cookery lessons form part
of the project too. The Family Life Programme is having
a massive effect on the lives of the poorest people by building
up their knowledge.
Relief
Fund: The Mothers' Union relief plays a vital role
in fulfilling the aim and objects of the MU, especially
the objective to support and assist those whose lives have
met with adversity. Just some of the countries to benefit
from this fund between September 2005 and July of this year
are; Kenya, where millions faced starvation due to prolonged
drought; Burundi, where MU money helped to buy rice, beans
and maize. Malawi suffered from a hunger crisis, again helped
by MU relief fund. Congo, Uganda, Florida, Zambia, Tanzania,
Bethlehem and Gaza. Each one a recipient of MU help, either
in goods or money. So far in 2006 the Mothers' Union has
sent Relief Fund grants totalling over £113,500 to
help communities in need.
World
Wide Parenting Programme: This project was started
in 2004 in parts of Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and the West Indies.
The programme aims to equip communities to extend their
parenting skills, build relationships and contribute to
the stability of family life in society.
