Red Lodge Community Church Parish Profile
A Methodist/Anglican congregation

To the Deaneries and Parishes in the Archdeaconry of Sudbury An exciting opportunity for a genuine team-player who will work with others to shape a church for the future – inspired by the insights of being a Mission Shaped Church and enthusiastic about Embracing the Covenant and working ecumenically.

The priest will need to feel the pulse of this crucial moment – a newly restored church building rising literally out of the ashes of a recent fire and with the prospect of a new church school being relocated on Red Lodge. This is also an auspicious time as local
unity works less with static entities of ecumenism and more in the spirit of what church means at the start of the 21st century.

The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich and the Methodist District Chair are committed to finding ways in which this venture can flourish on this single largest housing development in Suffolk and within the only formal Anglican/Methodist partnership in the Diocese.

Currently there exists
· A Methodist congregation
· A local Methodist minister
· A Methodist funded lay worker
· Clergy involvement from the Deanery of Mildenhall

The time is right to shape a church for mission and to celebrate a covenant approach to local unity.
Existing church – working collaboratively with the local Methodist Minister
· A share in leading worship at the Community Church
· Helping to shape an outward looking attitude in the congregation
· Working closely with the Lay Worker

Emerging church – working with a variety of individuals
· Prepare for the arrival of a new church school
· Network through the Millennium Centre
· Develop existing points of contact – pre-school, Royal Marine Cadets, Age Concern, Women’s’ Institute, Good Neighbours, community lunch, health conservation, allotments association – and initiate new ones as the area of new housing continues to grow.
