SALLY'S PAGE

As Vicar in the Blackbourne team Ministry I serve the parishes of Honington, Sapiston, Troston Fakenham Magna and Euston, and assist at RAF Honington if required. I am also the Agricultural Chaplain for the Diocese and in that capacity serve on the National Boards of Farm Crisis Network and Rural Stress Information Network. The Rural Coffee Caravan Information Project is also a part of  that whole area of work, as is working with the National Farmers Union and just being there if needed!

I am married to Tim and have two grown up children Chris and Mary as well as a Son in Law, Richard. They have seen me through becoming first a lay reader, then an NSM Deaconess then going full time in that role before being ordained deacon and ten years ago being ordained priest.

Sally

Sally arrived in 1984 and brought with her a wonderful spirit of community that engulfs the whole group of parishes within the Blackbourne Ministry.

After being ordained in 1987 Sally became the first Anglican woman minister to perform the marriage ceremony for her own daughter.

It is well to keep a sharp look out on a Sunday morning as she darts between the various services around our local villages.

Sally has certainly brought with her much energy and originality, to compliment  the traditional services and preaching. Conducting the pet services whist astride her horse, much to the enjoyment of the children, or how each year, the children from the adjoining Honington primary school come into the church for an animated lesson involving the sights and sounds of christenings, confirmations and marriage.

No comment on Sally could go by with out a mention of the Euston Rural Pastimes annual event. This has become such a major part of the East Anglian summer diary, and we are proud to say that in recognition of her great service to the farming communities, Sally was this year awarded the MBE. But we think it was really awarded to her, just for being such a good person.

Tony
