Many thanks from the Church Events Committee.

Would you like to make a difference?

Can you help a team reach a conclusion that benefits all? If so, read on…

Cretingham, Monewden & Hoo Parish Council seeks community minded people to form a committee to produce a Parish Plan. The Plan would: show the way forward for community projects; present ideas on which the Council could act. The Committee would: devise a questionnaire for all residents; collate the resulting data. Funding is available to build the plan and help is on offer from the team at Suffolk ACRE.

This gives YOU a chance to have your say on the way you wish your village to be now and in the future.

To register your interest please contact any Councillor or the Clerk to the Council: Carol A Smy, 01379 384679 or clerkcmh@thesmys.com

An Introduction to PALS

The Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) is provided by Suffolk Primary Care Trust Local Community Health Services.  The new PALS service covers all of Suffolk (excluding Waveney), PALS is a free confidential information service giving on the spot help for patients, their families, carers and staff.

The main aim of PALS is to resolve problems and concerns quickly before they become a major issue and to act as an early warning system for the Primary Care Trust by monitoring and highlighting any problems or gaps in service provision.

We can provide information and advice on NHS services such as GPs, Dentist, Podiatrist, Opticians, Pharmacist, and other community services, voluntary and support groups.  We offer information and in-depth research on any health issues, for example smoking cessation, healthy eating, drugs and alcohol.  PALS can assist you in making an appointment with an organisation or department, which may involve attending with you if that is your wish and assisting you in articulating your concerns.

There are some things that we will not be able to change but we are part of the feedback services to enable Suffolk PCT to review and where necessary improve its services.  If despite speaking to the PALS service you wish to make a formal complaint we will explain the procedure to you and put you in contact with the right people.  We may not have all the answers straight away but we will help you to resolve your concerns and we can always put you in touch with someone else who will be able to help you.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) is based at Stow Lodge Centre Chilton Way Stowmarket Suffolk IP14 1SZ.  The free phone number is 08003896819

John Baxter RIP

Doreen would like to say how overwhelmed she has been by all the many cards, flowers, messages of sympathy and all the support received following the sudden loss of John. All of this  has been a great comfort and greatly appreciated.

Earl Soham Open Garden Day

The Village Hall committee would like to thank everybody who opened their gardens and those who worked so hard both before and on the day.  It was a great success and many people who attended told us how much they enjoyed the day and how lovely the gardens looked (the refreshments were greatly appreciated too).  A special thank you goes to the Scouts who organised the car parking so efficiently.

We are very pleased to say that £882.51 was raised.  This will go towards improving toilet and disabled facilities at our Village Hall.

Earl Soham Whitsun Stalls

Very many thanks to the team who helped to assemble and dismantle the gazebos, to the stall holders and helpers and, of course, to those who provided cakes, plants etc. for the event.  In spite of heavy rain after lunch which forced an early finish, we still made a healthy profit of £257.12 for St. Mary's Church.

Thank you again to all concerned.
