Opening times will be be from 10.00 a.m. till 3.00 p.m. except for Sunday when we will be joining in the Sunday Eucharist at St. Mary’s and the exhibition will be open after the service. Friends of St Peter’s Cretingham

‘Follies and Oddities in Suffolk’ was the Autumn talk offered by the Friends. The speaker was Peter Driver who humorously entertained an audience of 29 people in St Peter’s Church on 12th October. The talk was well received and a profit of £205 was made on the night, which included the raffle. Grateful thanks to all those who provided prizes.

The eighth AGM of the Friends took place on Monday 8th November in the Church. A report of that meeting will be included in the January 2005 parish magazine.

Earl Soham 100+ Club

The annual draw took place at the meeting in the village hall on Tuesday, 19th October and I hope a lot of members left a little happier than when they arrived.

We always want to recruit more members and we hope existing members will help to suggest newcomers to the village who might like to join the 100+ Club to enjoy a social evening and raise funds for Earl Soham Village Hall and St Mary’s Church Fabric Fund. This year we were able to present £375.00 to Rev. Clare Saunders on behalf of St. Mary’s Church and to Mr Geoff Brumfitt on behalf of Earl Soham Village Hall.

The invitations to subscribe for 2004/2005 are now being distributed – if you have not yet received one please ask either Mrs Connie Abbot (685210 or myself (685608) for an invitation or if you would like to take out a second one we would be happy to deliver another invitation.

Our thanks to all those who do donate just £12.00 towards our beautiful church and to our village hall, both of which are in dire need of financial assistance. If you do not subscribe yet please think about taking a subscription – we do give presents at Christmas – please think about give a gift to our village.

Cretingham Mystery Meal Saturday 29th January 2005

This is an annual village evening when there is an opportunity to meet old and new friends whilst travelling around the village for a three course meal and finish up having coffee altogether. Each couple participating will provide one of the courses and travel to another venue for the other two courses. Apart from knowing which course you are to provide the rest of the evening remains a mystery until you open an envelope just before each course. It is great fun so please make a note of the date in your diary now. There will be a flier in January’s issue of the magazine but you can book a place now if you wish by ringing Eric Brown on 01728 685520.

RIP

We offer our love and prayers to Ken and Ann Fraser and their family on the loss of their daughter Clare. There is to be a Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration of Clare’s life in Earl Soham Church on Friday December 10 th at 12.00 noon, the day which would have been Clare’s birthday.

“O Father on your love we call, when sorrow overshadows all, and pain that feels too great to bear, drives from us any words of prayer; enfold in love for evermore, all those we love but see no more.

When dark despair is all around, and falling tears the only sound, light one small flame of hope that still, you walk with us and always will; enfold in love for evermore, all those we love but see no more.”
